| Best practices for school bomb threats |
Our nation's schools and first responders now have a unique, interactive tool to help them prepare for bomb threats.
"School Bomb Threat Response," distributed to education and law enforcement personnel around the country, shows schools, state and local law enforcement and public safety agencies how to work together to solve this all-too-common problem.
Developed jointly by the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools (OSDFS). The program helps the various parties establish common goals and a clear division of responsibilities – before a problem arises.
Powerful and customizable
The free CD-ROM employs video interviews with bomb threat experts – along with a powerful virtual reality scenario – to teach everyone involved how to evacuate a school properly. The 90-minute program also includes a flexible 15-step process, printable PDF files for training purposes, and a customizable PowerPoint® presentation.
The interactive training program, developed and produced by Stonehouse Media Incorporated®, helps public and private schools document threats, assess them, follow up on incidents, review their procedures and implement preventative measures. In addition, it suggests ways schools and community responders can build trust and pre-plan to work as a team and provide safety to our schools. |
